Organisation
• The Danish Disability Resource Centre is a nationwide knowledge and resource centre.
• The Board of Trustees comprises representatives of municipal as well as federal authorities, and representatives of the Disabled Peoples Organisations, Denmark.
• The Danish Disability Resource Centre is an independent organisation and a joint venture between the Danish state and the NGO-umbrella Disabled Peoples Organisations. The centre is affiliated with the National Board of Social Services and financially backed by the Ministry of Social Welfare.
• The primary focus of The Danish Disability Resource Centre is on issues concerning groups of people with physical and mobility impairments. The centre emphazises social, relational and cultural aspects of disability.
Objectives
• To collect, adapt, analyse and develop relevant knowledge in the disability field.
• To secure nationwide dissemination of knowledge to relevant stakeholders, such as professionals, authorities and disabled peoples organisations.
• To offer quick and easy access to existing knowledge, experience and practice.
• To encourage development of cross-sectional knowledge between different frameworks such as organisations, research institutions, professionals and other relevant sectors of the society.
• To support, facilitate, inform and increase public debate and knowledge on disability issues, thereby raising awareness.
